Wish 10th Party!

Nothing like being invited to a fab party to brighten an otherwise dull week.

A few weeks ago Mandy and I attended the WISH 10^th Anniversary party, we arrived early, only to be told by some snotty man on the door to come back at 7 SHARP, which we did after a yummy cocktail at cruise bar in circular quay. When we returned it was lights camera action for what panned out to be a fantastic evening.

Walking in the first thing I noticed was the bar, it was lined with rows of martinis the second thing I noticed was the array of models and I wondered- how many martinis can a size 0 model drink before she hits the deck? I didn’t get my answer because I left early :-)

As the room filled, there was a plethora of beautiful woman and designer outfits but the only thing that they all seemed to have in common where the skyscraper high heels they were wearing. Personally I’m not a fan of the gladiator stiletto but my gut tells me these babies will be here for at least another season because everyone had them on.

While observing the crowds hair styles both Mandy and I mentioned how many pony tails we saw, and not your standard “I’m running late for work pony tail” but high, slick (tricky to achieve) pony tails with hair wrapped around the base to cover the elastic.

In contrast to this slick hair style the other runway models had long flowing locks with a middle part, I love! Love! Love! this hair style but it’s hard to pull off if you have fine hair like I do (stay tuned cause I’m testing some products to combat my problem)

The hair on the runway was simple and it worked beautifully with the new summer lines of Wish clothing, the high pony tails worked in with the evening dresses and the long flowing locks complimented the relaxed warm feel of the day wear.

Winter Blues...

For goodness sakes when is it going to stop raining in Sydney??

My hair can’t take much more and I’m not alone, through the ontrend office all you can hear is whinging and whining about frizzy hair!! (The joys of a female dominated office ha-ha)

Its day 2 of winter and I’ve had enough, the cold, the wet, the wind are all horrible – the only thing that’s good about winter is the fashion! (my) life seems dull during the colder months and it’s not just my hair that suffers in the freeze, my nails turn it crap and my skin… well let’s say I hope twilight brings PALE back in fashion.

So how’s a girl meant to survive the colder months? Well all of us here at Ontrend have tried to come up with some nifty ideas to help you avoid a dull winter look.

Winter can take its toll on our skin, upgrading your moisturiser to something more hydrating is a start, Mandy recommends a brand called L'occitane, this brand has a moisturiser for all skin types so if you’re in the market for a new face cream then why not give them a try and don’t forget to get something nourishing for the rest of your body.

Did you know that you should moisturise your skin within 3 minutes of getting out of the shower? Apparently this helps to retain the moisture in your skin.

Making sure you have a great lip balm is essential, wind burn and cracked lips hurt and looks pretty ick – my recommendation is a never fail pot of blistex however if you want something else try getting a tube of Elizabeth Arden 8 hour Cream.. AMAZING and lasts forever (can be used all over the body not just for lips)

Winter hair… NIGHTMARE! First of all, all girls need a great shampoo and conditioner to match their hair type and I can’t go past Biolage – this brand is brilliant, and the range includes everything from shampoo to hair masks however it’s pricey and hairdressers love to sell it at ridiculous prices, so of you can’t splash out try PPS, they have a great range and are well priced.

Try giving your hair a treatment once a week and also remember that a warm shower is more beneficial to your locks that a hot shower (as it the heat dry’s your hair out more)

To help yourself from the inside out, I have a great tip that was given to me by a vegan friend of mine who is very much into health foods, her solution to hair, skin and nails is liquid Silica – and although I was sceptical at first after a month of having a spoonful in my juice every morning my nails were strong, my hair was shiny and growing like crazy and my skin was clear. This stuff is like $30 a bottle and lasts about a month and a half per bottle – if you’re willing to drink it I would highly recommend trying it.

Another beauty for your nails is Dr Lewins nail strengthener, and nothing beats smothering your feet in moisturizer sticking socks on and going to bed, by morning your feet will be silky soft and ready to be tortured by fabulous heels on weekend.

I guess an introduction is in order as many of you know we represent Scunci in Australia, it is sold at Priceline, Target, Big W and Kmart as well as online. We also represent another American company called Allegro who make the most fabulous cosmetic bags, these are sold in the above stores excluding Kmart and are a great mother’s day idea so go check them out in stores if you get a chance!

Here at ontrend we have a great team who are all very close, Mandy Meyerowitz is the Managing Director. Mandy started ontrend back in the early 90’s and has build her business from the ground up. Also in the office we have Anna (aka the oracle of knowledge) in finance, Li who assists in account, Tracey who manages stock control, Yael as office coordinator, Tanni and Mi run our warehouse and myself in Marketing and Sales (but also known as Mandy’s right hand) A female dominated office means it is never dull, lots of laughs and gossip make Ontrend a great place to work!

This blog will be updated regularly with topics covering fashion, hair, health and beauty. If you have anything you would like discussed email it through and we will see what we can find.
